Extra Yard for Teachers, the primary philanthropic initiative of the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation, in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, have pledged $1 million to help fund education programs in the Tampa Bay area that focus on early childhood success, promote a college-going culture, as well as recognize extraordinary teachers. Today, that goal came one step closer to reality with the announcement of a $300,000 contribution from Helios Education Foundation.

Helios Education Foundation is focused exclusively on education and is dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals in Arizona and Florida to succeed in postsecondary education. The Foundation invests knowledge, expertise and resources across the education continuum to advance student academic preparedness and to foster college-going cultures within the two states served.

“At Helios Education Foundation, we believe that education changes lives and strengthens communities,” said Paul Luna, President and CEO of Helios Education Foundation. “We are excited to partner with the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative because of the impact that this work will have in classrooms in our community through the efforts of local partners like Florida College Access Network, Take Stock in Children and LEAP.”

The contribution from Helios Education Foundation partners the College Football Playoff Foundation, Tampa Bay Sports Commission, Florida College Access Network (FCAN), Take Stock in Children (TSIC), LEAP, and the school districts of Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco Counties to help empower schools, teachers and community stakeholders to build a college-going culture for all K-12 students, as well as help low-income high school seniors navigate the college application and enrollment process. This will be accomplished through a combination of initiatives.
“The CFP Foundation is focused on supporting great teachers as we believe they are the key to a quality education,” said Britton Banowsky, Executive Director of the CFP Foundation. "We are grateful for the remarkable support from the Helios Education Foundation and the collective collaboration from the Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco county school districts, as well as the Florida College Access Network. Their shared commitment to our mission will undoubtedly make our efforts in Tampa Bay a success.”
