Message from the President and CEO
When Helios Education Foundation was formed in 2004, our Board of Directors, under the leadership of our Founding Chairman, Vince Roig, made a strategic decision that impacts our work every day. That decision was that Helios would be a philanthropic foundation designed to live in perpetuity. That means that we want the impact of our investments to have the same value tomorrow as they do today.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this concept of perpetuity recently and what it means for Helios and our business practices. Helios’ vision is that every individual in Arizona and Florida has the opportunity to attend and is prepared to succeed in postsecondary education. As an organization created to last in perpetuity, Helios Education Foundation’s perspective on the future extends generations. Every decision we make – from our investment strategy to the construction of an education campus in Arizona – takes into account how it will affect the generations of students to come in both Arizona and Florida. We are committed, not only to today’s students, but to tomorrow’s students as well.
As our society becomes more complex, the need for highly-educated, highly-skilled individuals grows. In addition, the need for us to ensure that there is equity in our education system continues to grow. It is critical that we ensure all students, regardless of their background or zip code, have access to high-quality educational opportunities at every stage of the continuum.
We are optimistic about the future and are committed to doing our part to ensure a strong and equitable education system for all students in Arizona and Florida. But, we know we can’t do it alone. We appreciate your partnership and collaboration and look forward to many more opportunities to work together moving forward.
Although we don’t know what the future will bring, we do know that Helios will be here helping to change lives and strengthen communities – one student at a time.
