Addressing the COVID-19 Pandemic’s Impact on Student Success: A Rapid Response Strategic Framework for Funders
Author: Helios Education FoundationApril 13, 2021
The COVID-19 global pandemic destabilized business and education by requiring in-home lock down measures that led to retail, workplace, and campus closures. As the weeks dragged and COVID-19 spread, students’ ability to overcome pandemic-related challenges became increasingly uncertain.
Addressing the growing concern students might stop-out prior to completion of their degree due to the pandemic, Helios Education Foundation drafted a framework to ensure students in both Arizona and Florida had appropriate support during this unprecedented time. The foundation’s framework for managing through the pandemic was structured in three stages: Stage I: Listening and Strategizing, Stage II: Implementing, and Stage III: Learning and Evaluating.
Helios’ most recent education brief, Addressing the COVID-19 Pandemic’s Impact on Student Success outlines development of the rapid response model, the community conversations that led to specific student-centered funding, and poses strategic questions for funder to consider during times of crisis. As a learning organization, Helios continues to refine opportunities to support student success and ensure more first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students experience the transformational power of education.
