"My goal in life is to be happy. I have no idea where life will take me from this point, but I am determined to work hard, to get an education, to grow, and be happy. Whether I become a doctor, an actor, a psychologist, a writer, an engineer or even a singer is fate's choice. I choose to keep as many doors open as possible." Ian Dale, Kofa High School, Yuma, Arizona
Helios Education Foundation and Yuma Union High School District are working to ensure every student in the district is prepared to succeed in college and career. The Ready Now Yuma initiative provides all students with a rigorous, high expectations curriculum as well as works to create a college-going culture throughout the district.
Ready Now Yuma is a unique initiative designed to support every student on the path to college and career readiness. The goals of the program are to graduate every YUHSD student prepared to succeed in college and career; embed a high-expectations, college-going culture within the district; and increase the number of YUHSD students entering and succeeding in postsecondary education, including career and technical education, community college and university.
Through Ready Now Yuma, YUHSD students participate in a rigorous program of study called Cambridge curriculum. Cambridge curriculum sets the academic bar high – it is internationally benchmarked and meets Arizona’s Common Core State Standards. Ultimately, it is designed to help all students master valuable knowledge and skills in demand by employers, colleges and universities.
The Foundation has invested nearly $4.8 million over five years in this effort. Visit ReadyNowYuma.org to learn more.
