Helios TGen Scholars Present Their Findings

Helios Education Foundation President Paul Luna congratulated the 2008 Helios Scholars at TGen for their work during the end-of-the-summer symposium held in August. The talented high school, undergraduate and graduate students who participated in this year's eight-week program received a stipend and the opportunity to work with a scientist and mentor on research projects on disorders as diverse as cancer, diabetes, autism and Alzheimer's disease. They presented the results of their research during the symposium.

The Foundation recently awarded $6.5 million to TGen as part of a new partnership that extends the Helios Scholars Program at TGen for the next 25 years. The endowment also funds this end-of-the-summer symposium where students present their work to their peers, TGen staff, family and guests. Additionally, the endowment provides six merit-based scholarships and supports several extra-curricular activities to encourage student interaction and learning.
