Quality Counts 2007 grades each of the 50 states on their performance outcomes as well as on their policy efforts to improve public education. The key indicators address the entire education continuum from early-childhood education to postsecondary study and training.

This report from the US Department of Education, describes how the education system in the United States compares with education systems in the other Group of Eight (G-8) countries. Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States are among the world’s most economically developed countries in the world.
Tough Choices or Tough Times: The Report of the new commission on the skills of the American Workforce
This report from the National Center on Education and the Economy recommends that the United States adopt internationally benchmarked standards for educating its students and workers, because only countries with highly skilled workforces will be able to successfully compete in the global market.
The Silent Epidemic: Perspectives of High School Dropouts
Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Silent Epidemic surveyed nearly 500 high school graduates to determine what might have kept them in school. The report recommends steps that schools, families, communities and government can do to improve the nation’s high school graduation rate.
Innovation America: Building a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Agenda
The National Governors Association’s Innovation America initiative focuses on strengthening our competitive position in the global economy by improving our capacity to innovate. The goal is to give governors the tools they need to encourage entrepreneurship, improve math and science education, better align post-secondary education systems with local economic growth, and develop regional innovation strategies.
