Delivering on Our Mission
Author: Helios Education Foundation
Helios Education Foundation is focused on ensuring that every student in Arizona and Florida graduates from high school prepared to succeed in college and career. Our work is driven by our strong-held beliefs in community, equity, investment, and partnership. Now in our second decade, we strategically partner and invest our knowledge, expertise, and resources to create opportunities for individuals in Arizona and Florida to succeed in postsecondary education.
As our work in Arizona and Florida has evolved, Helios has recently adopted our Arizona Latino Student Success Theory of Action and our Florida Regional Student Success Theory of Action. Each of these theories identifies the challenge, Helios’ approach and our impact. It is our goal that we will see more Arizona and Florida students graduating from high school prepared to succeed and ultimately complete a postsecondary degree.
In order to deliver on these theories, Helios has recently evolved our organizational structure and developed an Arizona Community Engagement Team, a Florida Community Engagement Team and a Program Administration and Organizational Learning team. These new efforts will enable the Foundation to more meaningfully engage with community partners and enhance the Foundation’s public policy and research initiatives.
To lead these teams, Helios is pleased to announce Charles Hokanson as the Foundation’s Senior Vice President, Florida Community Engagement; Vince Yanez as Senior Vice President, Arizona Community Engagement; and Linda Thompson as Senior Vice President, Program Administration and Organizational Learning. These newly created positions will lead student success initiatives aligned to the Foundation’s fundamental beliefs in community, equity, investments, and partnership.
“The development of Community Engagement Teams in both Arizona and Florida as well as our elevated focus on program administration and organizational learning will help further our board’s vision, support our partners, and most importantly, ensure more students achieve postsecondary success,” said Paul J. Luna, President and CEO, Helios Education Foundation.
Helios also remains committed to financial accountability and ensuring that we are stewarding our resources so that our Foundation can live on in perpetuity and continue to impact students for generations to come.
